When I search for a simple keyword using "Search Topics" I do not always get what I expect in the return results as only some or none of the expected thread pages show. For instance a search for "session" does not show the topic "Installing & Using DMG Forums Inside Another .NET Application" which contains threads with the word "session" in the pages. The selections I made on the "Search Topics" form were--
Search For: session
Forum: All Forums
Search In: Entire Message
Topic Posted: Any Date

In another case, I expected at least one result and got none. In preparation, I added a page in the "Free for all forum" that contains a somewhat unique string "z231" and I tried to find it using search without success. The selections I made in the search form were --
Search For: z231
Forum: Free For All
Search In: Entire Message
Topic Posted: Any Date

The page and thread I expected to show was http://www.dmgforums.com/topics.aspx?ID=227

Thanks for any help on this.

The search function is being improved in the next release. The reason why you were unable to return your results is because the search feature is currently set up only to search the thread subjects and the text in the original post. It is being improved with the next release to search through the full text of replies as well.

That's good to hear. Will you also be adding highlighting of the search terms?

Do you have an expected release date for the next version?

Right now the next release is just in planning stages, so it will probably be a few months out. You bring up a good point about the highlighting search terms. I think I will add that to the plans.

I currently get no results when searching for a word that I know is contained in a topic. Any ideas? I cannot get search to return anything.

I'm not sure why your search is not working properly on your site. I have tested it numerous times to see if I can re-create some problems but it seems to be working fine on my sites.

As for the e-mail on this web page, I have been having SMTP server problems for several weeks now. It is not a failure of the code that is preventing you from getting your subscription e-mails, but a failure of my SMTP server to properly send mails to certain e-mail addresses.

Just checking in after a few years to see if the search has been improved to "search through the full text of replies". It appears that v3.2 has not addressed this yet. Is this in the works?
